Unkillable drow from the first tavern duel

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
When the hell did Lasonar, whatever his name is, become unkillable? He's now following me around from map to map not letting me sleep, even in inns. What is going on here?

    That's weird. You aren't meant to kill him. He gets on low health and surrenders. It seems his surrendering isn't triggering.

    That's odd, but I did that duel a couple days ago and the dialogue got done quite quickly. Got the sword and everything.

    I got the surrender dialog and the sword as well. I just decided to skip the last combat to avoid the whole problem, but I think that I've got a save showing him with a red circle in the tavern.
