Okay, so you need 18 intelligence for Mage HLA... what if you drink a potion before leveling up?

So say if Aerie can't get some of the cooler HLAs for the mage class due to her intelligence not being 18, what if I drink some smartwater and then click the level up button? Will this cheat my way through?

The Int level only affects learning spells from scrolls. She can still get the HLA fine.

man, in my game she can't for some reason. I remembered that she could back in the day (I'm actually not playing the EE right now)

Is Aerie's mage level where she can actually cast level 9 spells yet? If not, the game won't let you pick an HLA that she can't use. She should be able to pick the mage HLAs once she can cast level 9 spells.
