For example, glass dust effect from mephits in Irenicus' dungeon.
1. Create a solo thief
2. Engage a dust mephit
3. While under the effect of glass dust, walk just a bit away so that you can't see the mephit.
4. Set a trap
Clearly the hostile creature should see you setting the trap because it is like 3 feet away.
