[ToB]Inconsistent combatbehaviour of enemies

Now, this may actually not be an issue. It did strike me as odd however and annoyed me a little:

Ever since the latest patch(I did not encounter it in the "vanilla" BG2:EE version), there are certain enemies in BG2:EE (specifically in the TOB part/areas) that behave like they would if SCS was installed.

So:
Observed Behaviour:(post patch nr.1) All the mages in Neeras Tob mission behave as if Scs was installed (i.e. they are smart and run away all the time, when you want to hit them in melee). Another uncharacteristically "smarter" enemy is Saladrex. Unlike all his other dragon friends he is considerably smarter and targets "weaker" enemies before the powerful melee damagedealer right in front of him. He will also use his breath weapon ONLY(!) if a significant number of people are in the targeted area.

Expected Behaviour:
IF SCS isn't installed: Mage behave like their dumb vanilla counterparts(approximation):

SoA:
low level: contingency spells and regular routine
high level: contingency spells, time stop, protection from evil, meteor swarm, gate and regular routine.
ToB:
contingency spells, time stop, emotion, symbol of something, symbol of something and regular routine .

Also, Saladrex behaves more like other dragons (or other Dragons behave more like him, although I would prefer it if all Dragons behaved consistently to their vanilla version).

Attached you will find a save prior to talking to Sazz Tam. Please note that the Char in this save has been slightly modified before starting this runthrough (all attributes were raised to 18 at character creation and the "Enrage" ability was added via EEKeeper).

Please feel free to move this to "not an issue" if these are deliberate changes. I could swear however that all the above mentionend issues did not appear in "vanilla" BG2:EE and were not mentionned in the changelog of the last patch.

  • I don't think this is a bug...based on what I've seen in various discussions on this board, the AI of quite a few enemies has been intentionally improved. Additionally, enemies in the new EE-only areas have vastly better AI...the mages in Neera's quests are perfect examples of this. I know for a fact I saw some smarter enemies before the patch arrived, because I picked up Neera and started working on her questline the day BG2EE came out.
