Is activation required for either game?

Is activation required for BG1EE or BG2EE? I found a post here that says the game can be installed on 2 computers at once: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/5236/license-for-two-computers/p1

Is there a limit to the number of computers I can install the game on (only my own computers, not my friends')?

If so, I hope you also have a deactivation feature that frees up the game for old computers that I no longer want the game on, because I frequently reinstall my operating system and change computers, and when I do, the game will be gone with it. I could keep a copy of the installer if it's allowed, but if the server thinks I already installed the game twice (or whatever the limit is), then either my installer becomes useless or I have to call support every time and explain why I have to install the game yet again.

    There is no limit, no. Install it on as many computers as you own. :)

    One activation required per computer and there's no limit on number of activations apparently. So no need to de-activate/authorize.

    What is this talk of steam authority key though?

    @The_Monado I think all steam games yell at you about that. I have EU3 for example and steam yells at me about needing a key, yet I can play the game perfectly without it. Maybe it is a special Multiplayer-based Steam thing that lets them yell at you until you use the multiplayer?

    Ah okay thanks alot Gem for the explanation.

    And sorry to be a noob on these forums (which I am) but is there a reason I can't create a topic? I have a problem with BG:EE where when I minimize the window I can't ever restore it back again.

    Btw the 1.2 patch is a godsend now because even with my crappy laptop with Intel chipset I can finally play it!

    thanks alot it said the verification worked the first time but maybe it got bugged.
