BG2 multiplayer question

Hey I own BGEE and I'm currently considering purchasing BG2EE aswell. I was just wondering about multiplayer, is there a lobby system where you can join games or does it work the same way as BGEE with you having to make arrangements over the forum and join via IP etc.

    both titles now have beamdog lobby connection. be warned that large games are more unstable over beamdog. you should play with no more than 3 in beamdog games.

    How do i join a IP game it doesn't give me that option.
