I just got jumped by shapeshifting assassins that shape shifted into my party. they said something about needing me captured because someone wanted to meet me. i killed them but they didn't drop anything to let me know what they wanted or who sent them. is this new in BG2 EE or am i missing something?

Is the mystery resolved in Throne of Bhaal? If so, I don't wanna be spoiled. If it's something in SoA or if it has no real resolution, I'd also appreciate it if somebody satisfies my curiosity.
Edit: it was the first time I noticed them though. Maybe the encounter was supposed to appear, yet was bugged and so did not?
And no, you never hear anything about it again.
the only F I can think of is Firgraak...and who does Tor'gal refer to when he's talking about the Stronger?
and what are the Illithids doing in the Temple Sewers?
I'm a pathological completionist, so in every playthrough I usually keep travelling between areas in Chapter 6 until they spawn
Not sure if the other encounters of this thread were addressed in that mod, because my vanilla BG2 game that ran it got bugged up and I gave up on the file. I'll be giving the mod a shot with EE if it's compatible, though.
Personally, I was always confused by the Armored Compound encounter, where you get Celestial Fury. I read somewhere that it's supposed to somehow tie in with the slaver quests in Athkatla, but I don't know if anyone ever finished the quest.
Regardless, I don't think they have any greater meaning, just random burly dudes out for a fight. They're not specificly out to get you.
Tor'gal's stronger has never been revealed. People assume it has to do with the Roenalls but I doubt Tor'gal would see a snooty noble as 'stronger'.
The illithids in the sewer supposedly had something to do with the Hidden, a fellow you run into during Jan's personal quest, who is also an illithid. You'll find that a combination the Hidden, the Roenalls and the Twisted Rune is allegedly responsible for almost every cut quest in the game, if forumers are to be believed. 'Restored' content tells us that the two children in love on the first floor are actually dangerous psychopaths who incite eachother to do constant violence to prove their love for eachother. That's why everyone was so happy they'd broken up. I think Unfinished Business adds a line or two but no real quest was ever attached.
