Question about Detect Illusion

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I'm currently playing a mage, and I tried using detect illusion on the werewolves in the circus tent but it does nothing. Now I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that that spell should dispel them since they are in fact illusions. After all when you kill them it says illusion dispelled and gives no experience.

    Detect Illusion only dispels illusion spells that are 3rd level or lower - I'm guessing the illusionary werewolves are considered higher level for this purpose. I know Dispel Magic gets rid of them, and probably True Sight as well.
