Original BG PC portraits. The barbarian and some Irish elf guy.

I was browsing all BG and custom pics and mentioned some interesting things.
In the original BG game every NPC has his own portrait. I mean if we count the tutorial NPCs too - Mordaine (elven girl in a hat in all green), Osprey (a paladin like girl with sexy lips and red hair), Canderous (the tutorial cleric) is the main BG pic with a handome guy in metal armor on a blue background, Deder and Arkanis also have their own portraits. We know them.

But there are 2 more original portraits:

Who are this guys? Are this 2 guys supposed to be protagonists? Or there were some ideas on other 2 NPC, but they were not included into the game? I mean this 2 pics are the only pic who don't have NPCs in the game. I know in some random situations the 1st pic can be a replacement in the tutorial... But still.
The 2nd one is deffinately a human, a pure fighter or a barbarian.
But who's the on the 1st one? An elf or hal-elf? Or even a halfling? Look at his ears. What class? A bard? He looks like Irish or Scottish to me.

    I always saw the second one as the protagonist due to the symbol on his chest strap. As well as his pure bad***ery.
    The first one looks a bit like Montaron though. Is it possible that that once was montaron's portrait, and they scrapped it once they figured out what his character was?
    The second one though, would have to be a pirate or mercenary of some sorts. Maybe this portrait was of an NPC removed from the game early in development?
    Edit: I BET YOU IT WAS XAN! He was a warrior early on in development.

    Wasn't the first guy an Scottish halfling? And he indeed looks bardish. But maybe that's just Montaron in his hippy days?

    First pic is already ingame. He's the secret leprechaun NPC that hides at the end of the rainbow. I usually just kill him for his pot of gold.

    Second pic is obviously Abdel Adrian's secret lover.

    I always thought the fighter guy is Abdel. Isn't that the pic used for the pre-made character named Abdel Adrian?

    The leprechaun-ish guy... In my Eldoth game, that was the pic the NPC Eldoth had (since I had his real portrait). It was irritating, and I killed him.

    If you use Dorn's portrait, then Dorn becomes Abdel.

    This was the secret Gorion had hidden from you, none of this Bhaalspawn nonsense.

    The Montaron theory isn't bad actually. That dude does look like a halfling to me, and I use him for that very purpose.

    I actually wonder more about the BGII half-orc portrait myself.
