Black Pits 2 question: Mirror Shard

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
So the question is: Mirror Shard is an item to be used in either Dulf Ebonbeard quest or Gerrold DarkFellow quest.

The Gerrold quest apparently is broken and if i use the item in one quest i can't use it on the other, so any advices about this?
