@belgarathmth: It's not like Sand or Ammon Jerro are any more careful with their spells - it's an AI issue, not a character issue. Spellcasters are best when directly controlled.
@shawne, respectfully disagreed. I can control Sand through his spellbook, by setting it with only spells I expect to need him to cast. Mostly, I fill him up with every version of Magic Missile (including the Isaac's line), and build his feats for metamagic, until I can fill up almost every slot in his spellbook with some version of Magic Missile.
Ammon has a totally different "spell" mechanic. I just choose only the incantations I want at level ups. Also, you don't even get him to deal with until very, very late in the game. I only take him anyway during the brief times when I *have* to for story reasons.
Sand, on the other hand, stays in my party from the moment I get him until the end of the game, unless I am playing the party arcane caster myself.
Qara sucks!, she is a substandard sorcereress with no personality apart from generic sorcerer "i have power i should use it when i want on who i want". she thinks she ahs no flaws and becuase of that she shouldn't abide by rules Where as Neera is "i have power, and i cant control it, but i do try to aim it at bad people!" she has a personality, she knows her flaws, she does what she can but she just goes with the flow as you cant put your hopes on something that's pretty much 100% random so why bother getting overly upset and just see the bright side!
i would much rather have a bunch of fireball scrolls with me, they have more personality and character backstory than Qara
BG2 -> A better story, quests... almost everything.
NWN2 -> The BEST workaround of classes, making the game much more interesting? Sometimes i just feel the urge of play NWN2 only for try new class combos.
If anyone out here are going to make an Redux Version of BG:EE, keep NWN2 classes, just saying !
Trying new classes isn't much fun when the story is so dull though, and you are stuck with pretty much the same NPCs in the same roles every playthrough.
It's a damn shame they cut the scene that would have shown that Qara is far more powerful than she lets on, and is actually holding back the entire time. The scene still exists in the game files.
I actually loved Qara, and she was the one I wanted a romance option for. I know... I have problems, I know. I'm a sucker for a crazy girl that makes snarky comments.
@kamuizin Have you played BG: Reloaded yet? Someone recreated BG1 in NWN2's engine. There's a second patch available for it that came out recently. I've played it before the patches came out so I hope it fixes what was wrong.
Off topic but why is Storm of Zehir so expensive? I have two copies we don't even use because I've always hated making your own parties. NPC personalities are what MAKES these type of games to me
On topic, I hope they're not a like but haven't had any face time with Neera just yet. I hated Qara though but ADORED Neeshka in the first expansion while the second ... bald women rocked apparently.

I would wait for the complete edition to go on sale on GOG.com again (if downloading it is an option for you). I think I picked it up for like $5 a few weeks ago.

I have given a try on Redux only @Flashburn, and i'm tempted to play IWD version made for NWN2, that has promise. By the way thanks for the tip anyway !

Another game made over the structure of NWN2 would be nice, which bring an idea for an option over an enhanced edition.
