Can you import a character from the original Baldur's Gate or Sword Coast games on the Mac?

I got BGEE on the iPad but I'm playing BG2EE on the Mac. I have BG2 and BG saved games and .chr files from 2001. Is there anyway to import those into BG2EE or BGEE on the Mac.

Or is there anyway to import BGEE iPad characters?
