Dual-class bug - game wont let me dual class to mage (no, its not a stat req. issue)

PerkyguyPerkyguy Member Posts: 18
So this is weird. Im finally at a point where I dual class to a mage and this happens:

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/9523/fqxk.jpg

After picking my additional weapon profs, i get this screen which requires me to pick 2 level 10 spells.
The same also happens when i try to dual imoen and when i try to dual a vanilla fighter from a freshly started game.

Dualing to a thief works normally.

Im lost and i need help. Here are my mods.

    It appears that the

    ~LEVEL1NPCS/LEVEL1NPCS.TP2~ #0 #1206 // Imoen: v1.9

component is what caused the issue. Granted, i knew that i was inviting trouble by installing a LEVEL1NPC character at the very bottom, but I wonder which other part of my mods does this interact with as to produce a bug with dual classing.

Is this for the Enhanced Edition? Because I'm seeing several mods that aren't on the list of BG2EE compatible mods. Examples: Ascension, BG2 Fixpack (no longer needed), Oversight, Tactics, D0Questpack, Big Picture, etc.

Based on the provided picture I'd say its probably the original.

I think you need moar mods!

I'd just like to bitch that contrary to the advertised "SCS" plays fair", this statement is, in fact, bullshit.

Every enemy no-name mage is now a cheap asshole , all of them have memorized the exact same spells, (along with 5 PfMW as a bonus) and everyone and their grandma spits time stops now. Im forced to rest so much more now, its just tedious.
  • By 'fair' I believe the author means that no game rules are being broken if avoidable. If a mage casts Time Stop, he's high enough level to cast it and has it memorized. When his Chain Contingency goes off, it's using legal spells with legal targets.

Since the mod is designed to enhance the game's challenge, it's naturally going to be more difficult. Why would that Mage have a brainful of useless spells, instead of memorizing a bunch of PfMW? Also note that in many cases enemy levels have been increased, and enemies that were already high level but didn't play up to their capacity will be a lot tougher with SCS.

It's definitely tough...I just quit a BG1 playthrough with SCS because I couldn't hack it. Takes all kinds I guess. :)

How is that not cheating? Also, i found it hilarious that there's a mod component which improves the mantle spells and then immediately gives them to every npc.
I honestly dont think ive ever encountered an enemy mage that couldnt cast at least level 8 spells

They don't really exist in vanilla, SCS doesn't increase any mage's levels, but the vanilla game made mages hard to dispel by making them like level 35 since it didnt really affect their hp or AC.

That said, wait until the under dark where every fight is casters and beholders steal your cloak. Of mirroring when they dispel you.

I'm finding playing with SCS and insane on the slider a lot of fun, the only issue is that with SCS every back alley rogue has 3-4 invis potions and backstabs for 100 instantly chunking weaker characters without stone skin up.

Having hlas in SOA really helps though, since enemy thaco is still bad enough for AC to matter, hardiness + defender of east haven works well.

Honestly you get used to the improved mages and priests and they still go down easy if you get rid of their defenses fast and slap on a poison. I also have hexxat using carosmyr on some fights to keep buffs off.

Oh, i am not troubled by the battles themselves I have completed ascension, solaufein's idiotic fights and the various tactics mod special scenarios.

What really annoys me is that every raggedy mage now turns casual encounters into a Tactics-like encounter. It forces me to rest after every fight and its getting old seeing 100 mages with the exact same spellbook and sequencers.

Every street shovelhead now fires an obligatory chain contingency consisting of the exact same spells - abi dhazim, improved mantle and whatever. No variety at all. And theres always like 3 morde swords floating about.

Same with the rogues, as you said. You are now forced to have truesight on at every time and every place, but they still drink up and re-stab immediately.

The forced constant micromanagement kills it for me.

Constant micromanagement kills it? Did you expect to be able to run on AI and watch the game like a movie with a mod specificly designed to make the combat more difficult? LOL

Unless you're playing with a totally custom AI, so your character uses ApplySpell(Myself,WIZARD_STONESKIN) all the time he is attacked.
