Stuck on Hexxat's quest

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Could really use some help here - I've entered Dragomir's tomb and I'm being attacked by respawning devil shades, but I've been stuck on this quest for days - I see the area that says "a cylinder of some sort might fit in here" and there's a bunch of partial skeletons in the coffins, but I have NO idea how to get any further. I'm sure it's something obvious I'm overlooking, as I can't even find a solution by googling it. What am I missing? PLEASE HALP.

    Did you get the stick for the hole?

    As kryptix said, there's a rod that fits in the hole. Search through all piles/containers. You also have to use the rod to get out again once you're done.

    There is no use whatsoever for the partial skeletons so ignore those.
