Themed party with Wilson...

Just started a midget party thread but I'm also thinking about a themed Wilson party, which would mean taking along the rangers and Druids I guess...

I still hate Cernd and can't imagine taking him along, but I guess I can take Jahiera and valygar... If I bring over the three wisdom books from bg1 I can even dual class him to cleric for some ridiculousness.

Arcane casters would be harder to fit in but they're also fairly vital for playing with SCS outside of really cheesy solo play, the only one who fits really is neera, and I guess imoen can be justified... That leaves only Charname, and the team really needs a thief early on until imoen. None of the thief builds fits the mold though... Maybe a cleric/thief?

I'd be highly tempted to do a ranger/cleric but the only import I have available for that already used all three wisdom tomes for herself hoping to get to 25 wisdom by game end. Then I can't do the same for valygar...

    My avenger druid is going to get him to help protect the forest west of Trademeet from fires, Smokey the Bear style! Only you can prevent forest fires!

    Also considering doing an all nature warrior party with a Cleric/Ranger romancing Jaheira, with Minsc, Wilson, Cernd (or the Kivan mod) and Imoen/Nalia/Imoen

    Thinking of keepering Cernd and Jaheira to-->Totemic Druids. Would be sweet to see Wilson, Jaheira's animal companion, Cernd's animal companion and my PC's Moon Dog all in action together

    go for a Berserker/druid dual class, if you can afford the points needed to make this class. Even a barbarian/druid dual class would be nice, with the proper mods to unlick barbarian dual class.

    Just remember that you have to get a minimum of 15 str, 17 wis, 17 cha owith an human character to make the dual class.

    Hmmm I like berserker mages so that might be interesting...

    Painful to get that high a roll though I guess I'll have to do bg1
    I figure I'll shoot for 18 str 18 Dex 18 wis 16 cha 10 int and 16-18 con which means I need a 96 lol..

    If you do BG1 you can keep in mind the books of skill to build the character, you have one for each stats, except wisdom that get 3, so you can go for:

    18/xx str (naturally for a decent fighter);
    18 or 9 in dexterity (which is based on use or not the gloves of dexterity)*;
    18 con (otherwise there's no point in make this kind of tanker;
    10 or 9 or 8 (or less) in inteligence, the only stat you can really ignore;
    14 wisdom (with 3 books you get 17 on it at the end of BG:EE)
    16 charisma (with one book you get 17 on it at the end of BG:EE)

    * if you're making a barbarian/druid (with mods for allow this of course) or an multi-class fighter/druid that will be able to use hardness HLA, you can ignore dexterity, focus into an item build to reduce damage in ovehaul (physical and magical (there are some displayed in this forum, just use Defender of Esthavan flail, belt of inertial barrier, orc leather, Roranch's Horn and others alike), you're not going to be ranged anyway and with a good reduction in damage you don't have to worry much.

    ** If you're hardcore and have the guts to run straight from the begin of the game to the watcher's keep, if you can reach and finish the 4° level, the machine of the Lum will also increase permanently each stats by one point with the character that use the machine (one use per stats type to be raised, so only 1 character can benefit of the machine for each stats).

    So if you're going to BG:EE the game, then 18, 18, 18, 8 (or 9), 14, 16 are suffice, which meant you have to get a roll of 92, not an easly roll to do with an fighter (but possible).

    If you compromise yourself in rush Watcher's keep as soon as possible to reach the end of the 4° level, then you can go for a 90 roll and start your BG:EE game with 13 in wisdom and 15 in charisma.

    Obs: if you choose to let Dexterity low (9), then the roll is MUCH more easier, as 81+ will solve your problems.

    Jaheira, Wilson, Neera, Cernd and Minsc? That's a pretty well-balanced team. :) Give your PC thief abilities (Shadowdancer? Bounty Hunter?) and you're all set.

    I was taking the books into account but I was greedier than you :) I was counting on 18 wisdom +3 books + deck of many things + lum the mad + hell trials + ioun stone for 25 wis and the extra level 7 spell but I guess practically you wouldn't use it because the helm slot is too important...

    That said, I'd probably go with 15 wis for practical purposes then... 10 int was to avoid having to go to watcher's keep before hitting mind flayers while being able to take 3 hits (I'll miss pfmw for this)...

    I won't use ranged so I guess lower Dex is fine, just never liked to do bg1 and early bg2 without high Dex I guess.

    All that remains is needing a thief and I hate taking yoshimo or wasting exp on jan if I'll swap for imoen...

    I forgot about the deck of many things, nice to remember. With dex in 10 or 9, you can easly go for 18 in str, con, wis, cha.

    When you ppl mention Wilson, do you mean the bear from Neera's quest? Just to know.

    btw, if you have what I believe is the Unfinished Business mod, there is some interesting developments with Minsc. There is a "Jerk kid stole Boo and sold him quest" that if you complete, Minsc gains one strength for finding Boo (19!) and also gets a new spell called "summon boolets" where he gets a bunch of hamsters.

    So:
    Wilson: Bear
    Totemic Druic/Fighter Jaheira: Spirit Animal
    Jaheira Shapeshift: Spirit Animal (make it a bear to be Wilson's romantic interest!)
    Totemic Cernd: Spirit Animal
    Cernd Shapeshift: Spirit Animal
    Minsc: Boolets
    Minsc or Cleric/Ranger PC: Moon Dog Statue

    That is seven animals right there! Your options are endless

    Only problem with this team is what will it do against mages?

    Hexxat gets spirit animals too i guess...

    I'll have to try something like this but I'm not sure how to deal with spell protections other than just waiting them out which would kinda suck...

    Preemptive insect plague/other insect spells usually does the trick against mages.

    Ah I play with SCS prebuffs but I guess I might uninstall that component for this type of a run because otherwise it'd be pretty impossible.

    Insect Plague (I guess insects are animals too :p)
    Or just have all your pets tank the hell out of them and your Moon Dog cast True Sight when needed. Also you have so many characters with True Sight and Cernd's Dispel Magic should be really good since he levels up pretty fast (until the end when he is stuck in limbo for like hours)

    also the unused Boo creature file has 100% magic resistance... Irenicus is gonna get beat by a hamster
