Two man group ideas?

Hey everyone, me and a friend are thinking of replaying BG multiplayer again for a second round with new characters. He wants to be a Kensai.

Therefore if we are doing a two man run, i'm trying to think of classes which would compliment his choice and allow us to survive/get through the game. Any ideas?

At the moment, i'm thinking of a cleric/mage or ranger/cleric. The cleric/mage playing support and buffing the kensai/attacking from the back or the ranger cleric playing a semi tank with spells. What do you guys think? Any other viable classes?

    Cleric/Mage would be good. Spells like Improved Invisibility and Protection from Elements could prove useful. Plus you can always use spell triggers/contingencies and Polymorph Other (into the spider) to join in the fights.
