not sure what weapon route i want to try this time through

my main character will be a f/m/t that will start with ** shortbow * dual wield and not sure what bladed weapon i want to start with. i usually favor towards short swords and eventually scimitars but am open to suggestions, thus this thread

Katana wouldn't be bad choice. You can get dakkon zerth's blade for extra spells (and I think thieves can backstab with katana.)

I'd probably pick up another spell caster to support your f/m/t and maybe a fighter or cleric or combo to tank

Since you only mention 4 pips at the start I will assume you mean that you're starting in BG1. I would argue that you'd be best served starting with longswords. Varscona and Flametongue are both really good in BG1.

start with 5 in bg2 with f/m/t the other 2 are for whatever bladed weapon i decided to go with

Odd, you should start with 6. Unless they start you at the BG1 cap instead of teh ToTSC cap (where you'd start BG2 as a 6/6/7)

Are you elf or half elf? If elf I'd go longswords for the +1 thaco. There are some decent early longswords as well as fantastic late ones. Blade of roses is +3 and sells at the copper coronet. Also there is a +2 namarra blade in a simple fight in the graveyard. Later after maxing longswords and ** pips in dual wield I'd put some in scimitar for Belm. Or short sword for kundane if u prefer to offhand short sword instead

For other characters I'd make a dwarf fighter cleric and a fighter immediately dualled to mage, grand mastering short bow or maybe dagger for fire tooth + a shield. That would cover all the basics of a party.

i dont really care for elvesor half elves so when i multi i use shadowkeeper to change the sprite and race to human. i am playing a f/m/t and a f/c. i will pick up npcs for quests but then drop them asap. for weapons i am going with scimitars short bow dual wield and short sword to start for the f/m/t and for the f/c i am doing mace flail and sling to start with. probably give both staff as well
