Magic Resistance Cleric Spell as an offensive option?

So, whilst perusing the spellbook, I notice that this 5th Circle Priest spell 'sets' magic resistance to 2%/level to a max of 40%... Are there any circumstances where this could be used to gimp a particularly tough enemy?
Eg: You gain access to the spell at level 9, so there must be enemies who have >18% MR.

The spells designed to lower resistance of an enemy seem much more efficient, since they are ranged and have lower casting times. The spell has a casting time of one round and hand to hand range, which would be very difficult to finish the cast without interruption.
I know it allows no save, and thought that as an intended buff, the target's MR wouldn't affect it? Presumably you could cast it on a friendly Wizard Slayer? (I know that example would be redundant, but still..)
Also, I hadn't spotted the casting time/interruption issue...
Yes it's hugely situational, but potentially handy in a fix. (Dragons is a great shout btw @nano)
Usefull on golems, dragons, drows, etc
Cleric/Mage Magic Resistance + Lower Resistance + Pain (target only 1-4 HP)
-> find the funniest way to kill the sucker with a lev. 1 Spell,..
