(spoilers) Where is Hayes?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
There was a brief dialouge box mentioning him in trademart after i rescued the mages.... I THINK... but ive got no quest to point me to where he is. I've checked the tavern in trademart. Where is he after the wild mages are rescued?

    He should be right at the bar in the Trademeet pub, drowning his sorrows.
