Foebane Enemy Types

According to Foebane's description, it deals extra damage to all Undead, Shapeshifters and Extraplanar beings.

So what does this signify?

Technically all elementals are extraplanar denizens of their respective elemental plane, but I don't think they apply.

Rakshasa and Genies are both viable targets I believe.
Does it give a damage bonuses against Haer'dalis?

My normal position towards extra damage is to dismiss it entirely, but there are so many undead, shapeshifters and extraplanar beings throughout the saga, I'm being forced to reconsider for the Foebane.

It's a good question. Been wondering the same thing.

However, even if you disregard the damage bonus, the drain effect alone makes Foebane +5 worth it.

Technically (according to the ITM file) affected creatures are demonic, rakshasa, lycanthropes, dopplegangers and undead. So not elementals, and contrary to the description, not planetars.

Yea the whole "all extraplanar" bit in the items description gives the impression that it deals extra damage to a wider group of enemies than it actually does.

Still like it as a weapon, can easily keep a fighter healed in combat. Saves bonus never bad either.

I use the weapon on my fighters all the time, and I never even notice the extra damage bonus. But add Belm or Kundane and improved haste and it heals so fast that hardly any enemies can actually keep up with your regeneration rate. It's a great weapon, irrespective of the damage vs extraplanar enemies.

Yeah, the damage bonus isn't very relevant in the great scheme of things when it comes to Foebane - but still, when a description is vague it's nice to know what a weapon actually does (and how it correlates with what it's supposed to do).
