He just splits!!!

I have a problem with Rasaad. I got him into my party to do the Nashkel mine quest. I finished it and killed you know who. I didn't want to and offered to let him go but when I touched the chest he turned hostile and was killed anyway. Then later back in town after telling the mayor I had finished the quest, I was ambushed by a bunch of people and in the middle of that fight Rasaad suddenly says he is leaving!!

He says my actions are unworthy or something like that. I've been a pretty good boy so I wonder what the problem might be? I'm a chaotic good ranger with a charisma of 13. Is this part of the bug that I heared of about him leaving suddenly or is it the fact that I killed you know who in the mines.

Hmmm... the guy in the mines, the half-orc, you are supposed to kill.

You get attacked by an assassin when you return to Nashkel, that's also normal. If I had to guess, u accidentally killed some civilians in the battle?

I'm not sure, I've never used Rassad, so I don't know if he has some specific triggers. What is your party reputation?

Like Heindrich says you should check your reputation. Though as a ranger it would become apparent if it was that low because you'd become a fallen ranger.

I reloaded it.. encountered the same dude in front of the inn.. this I offered to surrender, thinking that might be it.. (the last time I said:"it will be the death of you!"

I'm not sure the party has gained that much reputation either way. I never said "I will surrender" though to the bounty hunters. It seemed a bit wussy too me.

In the second attempt I killed the dude quickly and oddly enough I wasn't swarmed by a bunch hostiles who also wanted the bounty on my head.

I managed to get to the carnival and he's still there in my party after a good nights sleep at the campfire.

Lightning storm?? Is ur game modded?

Jaheira has Call Lightning, which is party friendly (and thus safe to use). There's also Lightning wands, but I don't think Jaheira can use those...

In general, u gotta be careful about using AoE attacks anywhere where there might be neutral/friendly NPCs.

A relatively common problem is when the enemy use Confusion, and you lose control of somebody, who goes on a rampage and kills civilians outside of ur direct control, which still causes reputation loss.

I've had Imoen shoot up a tavern whilst confused, and then call me a "mutton-mongering riffraff".

lol... I am now pretty sure what happened.

The assassin is Nimbul right? He attacks alone. He has no accomplices, but you must've thrown some sort of AoE attack, which probably caught a few bystanders, maybe soldiers, who turned hostile, and you assumed they were the assassin's comrades and killed them too, when they were just innocent people defending themselves from sudden attack. :P

@heindrich1988 well........... I do also have that wild mage............ and.........

still not quite sure what she does exactly.. so just cast that funky spell that Neera has..

    would that do the trick??

Then there is the possibility that I misclicked with my expert elven archer and killed a bystander (btw now that would be realistic!!! )

No not modded.. I just don't know all the spells by heart yet.. I mean the one with the cloud and the lightning symbol. I thought it worked like fireball

Cloud kill? It's more like napalm.

I thought this was about Fission Slimes.... Hateful creatures, you need to suck eggs fire to kill 'em.

Don't use the funky spell of Neera when near neutral and innocent bystanders. Definitely never cast it in a town. That spell is Nahal's reckless dweomer and it can produce a lot of hostile effects which can hurt and aggro the neutral npcs, commoners and soldiers. Then they will all attack you and you will lose reputation and become a fallen ranger. (Lose all special abilities and bonuses forever)

That spell has random effects, can produce fireballs, lightnings, can gender bend people or turn people to stone, and can summon a rampaging demon that will slaughter everyone it sees...use it as a last ditch attempt in a dungeon.

    And of course, cows.

You don't have to be a wuss to be Good. That wasn't the issue. It was almost certainly friendly fire on civilians, likely by Neera but possibly by some bizarre guard/commoner interaction. The game gets unfortunately buggy when multiple "sides" are present in an encounter, and sometimes people go hostile through no fault of your own.

Use Neera with more caution in the future and you should minimize this issue. Casting Nahal's Reckless Dweomer is, well, reckless.

@Tigersag Are you on a Macintosh? Because I am running into a problem in BG2 where even if I kill valid, hostile targets, my rep suffers. Not sure why yet.

PS. If your reputation is too low, a bounty hunter will ambush you in Nashkel.

PS. If your reputation is too low, a bounty hunter will ambush you in Nashkel.

That bounty hunter guy is Nimbul and he will always be there to ambush the party when they return from the Mines. It does not have anything to do with reputation. Although, if your rep is too low some Flaming Fist bounty hunters and enforcers and scouts will spawn when you are in towns. They will try to kill you as long as your reputation is villainous.

I think u used Cloudkill... which kinda confused me, cos that's a lv5 spell, which u should be nowhere near getting just outta the Nashkel Mines. Yes, Neera can potentially cast it through a wild surge, but I doubt you'd be doing that on a regular basis.

    Then I noticed this...

I guess this explains it, but I'll answer the question on that thread.

A lone random bounty hunter will also show up with low rep, but that's in just about every town. It's always one guy by himself who gives the same line.

    @heindrich1988

I didn't use cloudkill.. Jaheira cast Cast Lightning and Neera tried to cast the weird wild mage stuff that I still don't fully understand and like I said I might have misclicked in the heat of the battle and fired an arrow at an innocent bystander standing by the door of the inn.

the other bounty hunter came from behind the store, from behind me and then all hell broke loose. It might have been the flaming fist guys that run around the place when you first come in. I thought they were bounty hunters too or something. Then pretty soon I died being overwhelmed by them.

and yes my characters were at a higher level because I started out with a level 8 elven archer and as Heindrich explains in the other thread it means all the characters are higher level at the start of the game adjusted to your character.
