Baldurs gate 1 keeps crashing

Hi I recently found my old copy of Baldur's gate, the four in 1 box. I installed the game successfully and all was working fine. However I got to chapter 3 and now the game just crashes, the game screen turns into a small black box at the top left of the desktop screen. I am playing it on a Windows 7 asus laptop. Can anyone please help.
