Berserker -> Druid question

Hello,

I plan to make a berserker dualled to druid at level 13. I'd like to focus on dual-wield with emphasis on scimitars. My question is how would you distribute the profficiency points:

1. 5* into scimitars, 3* into two weapon specialization.
Assuming I could obtain Spectral Brand before the end of SoA and use it with Belm in off-hand throughout the ToB.

2. 3* into scimitars, 3* into two weapon specialization and 2* into clubs (to off-hand) since there are few decent clubs which can be obtained quite early.

    Looks good though I'd probably just stick with scimitars. Have Belm as your offhand weapon and Spectral Brand as your main weapon is a good idea. Also the only benefit of having 3* in two-weapon style over ** is better thac0 for your offhand weapon, so I'd probably get 5* in scimitars before getting 3* in two-weapon style.

    You can just start putting points into clubs after you dual class. If you dual at 7 or 9 then you can get to grandmastery in scimitars, specialised in dual-wield and still get specialised in clubs by level 12. Not quite optimal, but should see you through without too much difficulty.

    Grandmastery is the reason you go Fighter in the first place. If you're not interested in it, Ranger/Cleric would probably be superior in every way.

    Is this a standard legal build? I've surprisingly never seen it mentioned.

    Regardless, I like it, makes a lot more sense than Berserker/Mage to me.

    Its a difficult combination to pull off, tis why. To dual from Fighter to Druid you need a minimum of Str 15, Wis 17 and Cha 17, and you have to be True Neutral. Its a lot easier to dual to Cleric, Mage, or Thief in terms of rolling decent stats.

    I wouldn't recommend that you dual at lvl 13 because it takes a long time for a druid to reach lvl 14 and you would spend most of the game without enjoying your fighter abilities. I am actually playing a berzeker druid, never roll under 90.

    Thank you for remarks.

    ifupauline: I know there is quite a big experience skip from lvl 13 to 14. I was also considering dualling a little bit earlier. However I am not sure if another +1/2 attack per turn is worth it.

    I played one once. It was a fun duel, but yeah, you have to roll high and you'll take a long time leveling your druid levels.

    I'm just starting a run with one of these. Druid xp progression makes them nice for earlier duals. I'm planning to dual at lvl 9 - only 125k more xp to get to Druid 10, so you can have a fully realized character very early in BG2. Dualling at 13 means 1.25M to get your berzerker levels, plus another 1.5M xp to get to Druid 14. You'll be almost to the end of SoA before you have the character you actually wanted to play. Up to you, but I know I'd never make it. Don't have the patience to play a gimped character for half the game.

    As to your initial question, I agree with the folks above - get grandmastery as soon as you can.
