First SCS Playthrough - Why Can't I Hit Firkraag?

Hm, i have the smarter dragons mod installed, however it only stated HP increase, what other changes are there to them? As i can not hit him even with all his spell protections removed...I am using the Dragonslayer +2 (which is obviously for him) and i hit him, but it does no damage...

Do SCS Dragons require +3 or better weapons or what? As i hacked in Casomyr+5 and i hit him just fine...So whats the dealio?

You have to use secret word/pierce magic etc to get his protections off to hit him with SCS. Carsomyr has its own dispel which makes it work.

Hm i did though...Secret Word + Breach + Spellstrike (hacked in) still was getting no effect

I had my Blade tank him with Stoneskin, Mirror Image, SI:Abjuration, PFMW, and a few other buffs while Edwin hit him from afar with a couple or Lower Resistances. The he used a spell sequencer with 3 Secret Words (My Blade with Celestial Fury and Belm was still not hitting him). After that a Greater Malison and Chaos followed by a whack load of Magic Missiles and a Chain Lightning took him down. Basically I did no physical damage, I relied completely on magic.

I only remember Firky starting with Stoneskin and Spell Deflection as far as protections go, even with SCS.
All you need is one Pierce Magic > Breach. He has 1-2 Stoneskin Contingencies too.

In old vanilla, a clerical Magic Resistance at a low level, then Harm and a Magic Missile, I haven't found a better tactic!

Well, it depends more your characters really. If you have Fighter>Mage then you can easily tank and deal enough damage to him with Spell Shield, SI:Abjuration, Amulet of Power/Vocalize, Prot from Fire, a good weapon like Flail of Ages. Without a Fighter>Mage dual or multi you pretty much have to go the magic approach, with 2-3 mages casting Lower Resistance then spamming Minor Sequencers with 2x Magic Missiles.

He has a ton of hp if you opt for that option with SCS though, so I rely on improved haste and fighters rather than MM (how many can you realistically memorize?)... You can run in a steady stream of skele warriors one at a time to help tank too...

Not sure how I made him hittable but I'm pretty sure it was just a bunch of secret word and pierce magic...

My sorcerer has 7/day :p (currently finishing Underdark, damn SCS elder orbs)

Unfortunately you only get 1 improved alacrity with SCS :) I was just fighting yaga shura (I actually tanked him until his adds stopped spawning to farm more :), I still think melee wins, even though Neera with timestop, IA and level 35 or so with a ring of acuity and wizardry and circlet of netherthil has a ton of spells...
