SCS Review - My Playthrough/Experience With SCS

WARNING: Huge wall of text inbound

I just started playing BG2: Shadows of Amn with SCS for the first time, after playing it through 3 times without it...I am really loving it so far, it is a much more difficult challenge...So i was bored and figured i would talk about it here... I am a level 13 Kensai/10 Mage (One of the best classes - i was scared to do a regular class because of what i hear of SCS :D) I have a 4 man party: Jan, Aerie, Keldorn, CHARNAME

All Tactics Section Installed, Spell Tweaks Skipped, AI Enhancements (Smarter Mages/Clerics), etc.

3 Mages/2 Fighter party seems to bode well so far. (although atm i only have 1 fighter until i hit 14 with my CHARNAME)

Challenges so far:
Shadow Dragon (Temple Ruins) - Just beat him, he was relatively easy actually, took a few reloads because of his Shadow Breath kept chunking Jan :D, but in the end it was just "Breach, Secret Word, Lower Resistance, MAGIC MISSLE x1000, Keldorn hitting him.

Firkraag - Still haven't beaten him, i gave up when i first ran in to him, but i was lower level, i plan on taking him on again soon, His HP is ridiculous, and Keldorn could not land very many blows on him at all. I did not have Lower Resistance though...

Twisted Rune - I tried...Oh boy...I don't know how the frick i am supposed to do this...Heh, it was quite easy in vanilla imo, but its a different story this time around...My strategy was: summons distract lich (worked), Keldorn be closest to Beholder with Shield of Balduran so he can absorb him, and my Kensai and mages + Keldorn's True Sight take down the annoying ass mage asap...That part didn't work so well...True sight didn't take away her mirror image...I really am not sure why...She cast double time stops and just competely wrecks my whole party within seconds...Pretty sure if i could kill her quickly, it would be doable, but it was certainly not doable at the level i tried (Same level around when i did Firkraag)

Haer'Dalis's Plane - Whew, this was mostly hard because of two reasons... 1: Lvl 13 Kensai becomes lvl 1 mage...only 1 fighter, and i had to take out the Warden who was a pain the ass, but he went down...And the hardest challenge i had yet was here.....Random Encounter with a "Yuan-Ti" group...OMFG...3 Yuan-ti Mages with Contingency's, Globe of Inv, etc...Then you use breach on 1, and they cast it again...sigh....It took about 500000 Reloads...With the fighters on me, and the mages constantly screwing me over, it became extremely difficult...Eventually i said screw it and had aerie cast 3 cloudkills on em...Got rid of 2 mages, and all but 1 of the fighters..Which was much easier....

Temple District Mind Flayer Lair - Lol, this was quite funny actually, i had aerie cast Sanctuary, then just walk/get the hammer of thunderbolts, then come back, and shut the door...(i didn't think i could take them), then i said: lets go for it! I buff like hell, and open the door, only to see that every single lich/figher/mage/umber hulk in the entire area was clogging the doorway....The mind flayers knew i guess, because they are really smart...however they are incapable of opening doors...soooo....Anyways, after realizing this i super buffed my Kensai and some how tanked all of them, using the doorway to only allow 1-3 creatures on me at once..eventually i ripped through them all, but it took a few reloads...There was on random mage who kept using dispel magic and BS.

Unsee'ing Eye Lich - WTF, lich's are ridiculous now...I tried it at...obviously...a very low level.. but it was very surprising to me how ridiculous he was, he demolished my entire party in seconds...I look forward to fighting it again.

Bridge Lich - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkCCPdqr_Gs&feature=youtu.be

Overall, i love it so far, its fun and engaging and is a completely different experience so it makes it more entertaining...I am hoping life will be MUCH easier as soon as i kill Firkraag and get dat Casomyr :D

Pros:
Much more of a challenge...The monsters are far more difficult, and it makes boss battles far more entertaining.

Cons:
- Random enemy's are almost "too" challenging... Come on, boss monsters should be more challenging then random encounters....But that isn't always the case
- Every random ass thief as 50000 potions of invisibility...it was quite annoying...However it was interesting when i fought Edwin and all of the invisible thief's that surrounded him said "No one crosses the shadow thieves and lives!" all at once, it was actually super creepy and echo'y, it was pretty epic :D

I plan on updating this as i play on :D

Anyways, what do you think of the challenges i faced? Were they similar to the difficulty you had with them? Or were completely different battles much more challenging then the ones i mentioned...I am scared of whats to come :D

I played the last battle with Ascension and SCS, it took me 6 hours to get past the half of it.
Right now I started another vanilla run (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/29370) and it is challenging I can say, but I can tell that there is nothing worst than a cheatin' kobold.

Without spell tweaks just get a Druid and abuse the insect spells for easy kills on all mages, cast them on a party member in case of invis. Mages that use invis in SCS use si divination so you need glitterdust to remove it or a thief for detect illusion.
