I have my Archer (Charname)
Dorn
Jaheira
Viconia
Neera
Hexxat
I have been toying with dumping Jaheira for Rasaad, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it - Jaheira is just too good!
If only I could keep that Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity from BG! Then I would have Dorna again!
And then...well, just look at my party!
I call it a harem!
Good thing I have a Cleric and a Druidess! Restoration and Heal, heal, heal! I mean...I get level drained, bloodsucked, blown-up, tortured, and ravished all in one night! Then I get to spend a few hours in Jaheira's loving arms...and get scolded from that sharp tongue of hers!
Ah, BGIIEE!!! After a night like that, killing liches is a push-over!
Twisted Rune, indeed! You don't know what twisted is!
Can you see why my Archer fell?
What class is your character? What kinda play style do u enjoy? Even if you got a neutral character, you kinda have to pick between Good and Evil, or you'd run the risk of infighting and a lot of reputation management.
The game is 'designed' for a full party of 6, and given that so many quests in BG 2 are linked to specific characters, I'd recommend that you use a full party to experience as much as possible.
Berserker gnome/dwarf (chaotic good)
Aerie (romanced if gnome)
Keldorn
dwarf berserker
korgan
anomen
keldorn
Jan adds frivolity and wit to the group. Some people love him and some don't, but he is interesting and is definitely worthy of a slot. He has lots of banters with almost everybody and is very useful.
Even though some NPCs fight, they can be quite entertaining. Just try a bunch out and see who you like. No worries, you'll get around to all of them eventually
Korgan
Hexxat
Jaheira
Viconia
Dorn
Everyone is only level 2 right. Anything wrong with my set up?
For an evil party your choices are basically made for you: you get Edwin, Viconia, Dorn, Korgan, and Hexxat, and that makes quite a good party. Edwin is severely overpowered and Viconia is pretty far from legal as well.
If you want a really specific powergaming answer, assuming a lineup of 6, you could go with:
(non-evil party, if you reload) Aerie, Haer'Dalis, Imoen, Neera, Jaheira.
(for a no-reload replace Neera with Nalia.)
(mixed party) Edwin, Viconia, Imoen, Aerie, Jaheira.
PC should be a conjurer, gnome illusionist, sorcerer (though it pains me to mention them), F/M, F/M/T, F/M/C, or dual class Fighter->Mage or Cleric->Mage (with kits of course).
Anyway yes the party looks fine. As other players have said, there is no right answer to your question. All the NPCs are perfectly capable, and the evil characters are particularly powerful.
If I were to make a recommendation, since your party is mostly evil, why not drop Jaheira, I can't see how she can tolerate such company :P.
Replace her with another arcane caster, Edwin is the most powerful pure spellcaster in the game. Your current party's weakness is a lack of high level arcane magic. Since you don't have Keldorn, you're gonna find being out-gunned in the 'magic arms race' of defence vs penetration pretty frustrating.
F/M is powerful, but spell progression is painfully slow, so is usually better as a secondary caster behind a dual-class or specialist mage.
Edwin stands out as the best mage, due to the sheer number of spells he can learn (becomes very useful at high levels), and Keldorn's special abilities really separates him from the pack. Since they are not entirely compatible I'd say in order to get the "maximized power gamers wet dream" of a party you'd need to build it around those two and whatever your main character is. However, Neera can be a good replacement for Edwin (I only recently found out how useful Reckless Dweomer is.
1). Does you party cover the roles (fighter, mage, cleric, thief)? Yes
2). Any party conflicts (people who will kill each other)? No
3). Are you happy? Is someone annoying you? Do you feel you're lacking something?
CHARNAME - Berserker ->Mage
Edwin (best mage)
Viconia (good cleric with 65% MR!)
Neera (wild mages overpowered in usual game)
Keldron (inquisitor kit is insane, also good armor and weapon)
Jaheira (fighter/druid is very good kit, also Silver Pin is very good item)
or
Rasaad (Rasaad better in ToB)
Ehm... i miss thief. Propbably Jan janson is best choice instead someone.
Sansa (my elven, CN sorceress)
Keldorn
Anomen (I might have cheated with SK for a second pair of dex gauntlets...I still feel bad about that)
Jaheria
Rasaad
Jan
So 2 bible bashers, one cute as hell monk having a bit of a theological crisis, a nagging Harper and 2 slightly eccentric mage types.
Minsc
Jaheira
Imoen
Aerie
Valygar (shifting to Sarevok(dual) in TOB)
Strong fighting, Strong Healing, and a lot of magic. What's not to like :-)
Minsc
Jaheira
Yoshimo->Imoen
Only 4 people, level up faster and less annoying micromanaging
* kensai dual thief for tremendous backstab damage.
* cleric/mage is the funniest caster because of robe of vecna and amulet of power, those instant group healing are awesome.
* fighter/cleric, killing machine.
* Archer, killing machine.
* berzeker dual druid or fighter/druid
You cannot keep both Viconia and Keldorn in your team.
PC Cleric/Ranger multiclass with Flail/Warhammer/Mace
Dorn
Hexxat
Neera
Rasaad
good:
Charname
Jaheira
Keldorn
Valygar
Jan/Imoen
Aerie
evil:
Charname
Korgan
Viconia
Edwin
Jan/Imoen
