Kensai/Thief not able to wear leather armor anymore?

I've heard it used to be possible and a pretty good idea to dual class a kensai into a thief to be able to wear leather as a kensai. but it seems they have changed that... my kensai/thief still can't wear any armor :( or am i doing something wrong again? my thief level is now 1 level higher than my kensai level so at least he got the weapon proficiencies back...

    edit: 3mil XP is pretty late in the game though isn't it? what level would that be?

    3M xp is near the end of Shadows of Amn, which I completed with almost exactly 3M xp, but I did miss out on a lot of quests, and didn't have any of the EE content.

    It's a little later for dual-class characters. Single-class and multi-class characters get HLA's at the first level-up at or past 3mil XP, divided among the classes. Dual-classed characters don't get credited for their first-class XP; so a level 13 Fighter dual basically gets HLA's 1,250,000 XP later than a non-dual character.

    Not to mention Gauntlet restrictions. Being able to wear the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization on a Kensai/Thief is a god-send, let alone the protective leather armors you can get at such a high level thanks to the HLA.

    3.08 million xp is level 24 for a thief. That's the level you get your first HLA. So basically if you are playing in a 6 person party that would be late SoA/early ToB depending upon when you dual class.
