Xan in TOB

In connection with the magnificent string of polls provided by @booinyoureyes, especially the mage one, I got to thinking about how it would be if Xan was a joinable NPC in SoA and taken all the way to ToB.

-How would the gloom-ridden pessimist deal with amazing power at his fingertips?
-Adventuring with charname he would experience quite an amazing amount of victories and success? Enough to turn that frown upside-down? :)
-Or to take the dystopic route myself - the set-backs would just be confirmation of the hopelessness of it all: "Oh no Imoen is captured by a sociopathic mage with higher intelligence stats than me, and he can use magic missle". "Oh crap we have a fire-giant army bombarding us? Let's just charge out the walls and end it all" etc.

I mean if Xan was lvl 30 even he should get some sort of feeling of power and ability to change bad situations good?
Man, I would love Xan in BG2EE.

Hey man! You should really try the NPC mod for Xan. I am playing it in my current playthrough. It has a good romance option to for Elf females. I made an elven female cleric/ranger (eekeeperd her race) for the game and I am making a four person party of me, Xan, Imoen and Rasaad. You can do two romances simultaneously actually (Xan and Rasaad)... better not to think too hard about it, lol.
Xan can be installed as an enchanter, a wild mage, a regular mage, a fighter/mage or a sorcerer. I made him a sorcerer.
The voice acting is different but still pretty decent, and fairly faithful to the first game character. Also if you played BG1 NPC Project (or not) you can continue your romance from there! It is good stuff. He gets a couple unique encounters and has banters with all the non-EE NPCs and even many other non-mod NPCs.
I highly recommend it, as a fellow Xan supporter!

    We're all doomed!

I like him a sorcerer but I think it might be fun to make him a fighter/mage as well as long as you use the girdle of fortitude for him. He has his own cool item and everything, and being an elf with 16 dexterity would make a decent enough archer if that is your style. I'd make him dual wield longswords and his moonblade until i find something better.

There is a mod, yes. He used to appear in the tutorial for BG2, saying he was returning home. Don't know if thats still in BG2EE... don't remember seeing or playing a tutorial for some reason. Or was the BG2 tutorial in BG1EE? Bah... I've gotten myself lost and confused...

There's a Branwen mod by the same gal who made the Xan mod, also with a romance option. Both can be found on Pocket Plane Group, and both are awesome (she also made a Coran mod and a Tiax mod, if you're missing either of those two). Two of my favorite mods, and very well done- especially the romance options.

(Also, sorry, double post, but they were just updated today to have banters with the EE NPCs. So now they'll talk to Dorn, Rasaad, Hexxat and Neera. Cheers!)

I highly recommend Coran if you haven't seen me gushing over it already. Best NPC mod there is.

The original BG2 tutorial was included in BG1:EE, but not BG2:EE.
