Finally! FINALLY! My paladin has spells!...How do I use these

So my paladin has spells. This is good! But they are low level. Does anyone have any suggestions for what spells I should learn? The only ones that look useful are armor of faith, bless and protection from evil, but I know by now that usually theres some hidden gem of a spell I'm ignoring. Any advice?

Doom is an excellent debuffing spell. Than remove fear can be useful and Sanctuary just as well.

Armor of Faith is probably the best level 1 spell for a paladin, but Remove fear and Sanctuary have uses as well. You'll end up with 3 spells of levels 1-4, so the choice becomes a bit more flexible as you level up.

Draw Upon Holy Might is a no-brainer pick at spell level 2, which will arrive soon enough.

For Paladin spells: remember that your caster level will usually be a fair bit behind a priest or druid. Let them memorise any group buff the duration of which scales with level. Your paladin does well with self-only buffs and fixed duration spells.

*Edit* The reason sanctuary is good is that it's a short duration invisibility that does not break with certain actions. You can loot containers and cast non-offensive spells without becoming visible.

To expand on part of Corvino's post until late into BG2 a Paladin's caster level is going to be 8 levels behind a clerics. So just keep in mind that when you see a spell (like Armor of Faith) take off 8 levels (from your paladin level) to find out whatever bonus/duration it gives. So if you are a level 15 paladin you'll be casting as if you are a level 7 cleric. Its not the end of the world or anything its just something to keep in mind.
