Purchase failed, please try again

Hi all,
I am trying to download the in-app purchases for baldurs gate 2 on iPad and when I click any of the 'buy' buttons a window with 'purchase failed, please try again' pops up instantly. Purchases in other apps work and I can 'restore purchases' but can't buy the 3 available characters or the new portrait pack.
