Dorn won't rejoin my party - Is it a bug or a rep issue?

Previously, I had completed most of Dorn's quest except for the part that requires you to cross the bridge into BG, since I hadn't yet flooded the Cloakwood mines. Since my rep was getting perilously close to 19, I dismissed him from my party because I was worried about him "breaking" and being lost forever once I got over 18. I know that an evil NPC will normally disappear forever if you dismiss him while you already have a high rep, but Dorn told me that he would be waiting at the FAI if I changed my mind, so I was left with the impression that my rep had not been an issue. My plan was to wait until I had flooded the mines and then re-recruit him temporarily until I had completed his quest.

Recently I was passing through the FAI and clicked on Dorn just to see what he would say, but he just keeps telling me that I will regret my choice, and "Begone!" Is this because my rep was too high at the that time I dismissed him, so he was "unhappy"? Or is it because my rep is currently too high now? (at 20). Is there a way to get him to rejoin my party without cheating? If not, is there a way to use EE keeper to change his status?

    I believe dismissing him at 18 still lets you recruit him again, but Dorn won't join you if your rep is 19 or 20.

    I just tested this out by killing an innocent to lower my rep, and it appears that you are correct - Dorn offered to rejoin the party once my rep was lowered.

    I have areputation of 16 and Dorn won't rejoin. Is this a bug or has something changed?

    I had a bug in my game. It was as if he had never been in my party.

    I went south from Nashkel, did his quest again and now everything is hunky dory.

    I have got a little extra experience, but nothing of any consequence.
