Does the thief's "Detect Illusion" do anything?

I'm confused over this. I put 160 points into this skill by the end of ToB and I never saw it come up even once. I once saw an enemy thief get an "attempts to detect illusion" over their head, but does it work for your character? Do you have to press the detect traps button?

Thanks, I see now (no pun intended). I had Keldorn with me though so I guess it wouldn't have been that useful just cause of his amazing True Sight.

    Take a look @ http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/5814/thief-skill-detect-illusion
are interesting posts by chickenhed and Mortianna, and this guide too: http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/470765-baldurs-gate-ii-throne-of-bhaal/faqs/27550

I also discover now that this ability is used as a percentage, but it seems that on some occasions it is useful to have more than 100 points. How this is possible?

The obvious biggest boni of detect illusions lies in fact, that it can be used indefinitly and cannot be dispelled. So your caster will be able to cast other stuff, while your thief gets throw their illusions.

Honestly, this skill makes the Dark Moon Monk kit very interesting. It is a superb little extra bit of utility to add to an already pretty awesome class.

True, but Sun Soul Monk steal beats him, because he can KILL THINGS WITH FIRE(tm)!
