Question about dialogue pre-final battle (MAJOR SPOILERS SO MAJOY I USED CAPS)

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Right before the battle with Irenecus you have the option to tell your companions they need not fight with you, that this isn't their fight, etc etc. Does any companion actually agree and just walk out? For some reason I can imagine Edwin doing just that.

    Nope. Edwin sticks with you because he wants power and sees you as a means of getting it. As I recall that is the general theme for evil characters.

    It should have been a 50/50 chance that neera would be "haha, suckers!"

    Edwin should have joined Irenicus, at least this would have given him a slim chance of getting what he longs for.

    Edwin is evil but he is also lawful, so I'm not sure it would make sense to totally flip sides like that at the last minute.
