Valhalla: Inspire Courage Imaginations from the Other Side: Fascinate Don't Break the Circle: Inspire Competence (summoning spells) Battalions of Fear: Countersong And the Story Ends: Inspire Greatness
Bards are incredibly AWFUL in Baldur's Gate: there's not a single thing they can do that cannot be done better by someone else outside of singing - the fact that Bardic Party Members are all awful in their own way doesn't help. Fortunately, the Rogue Rebalancing Mod amps up their usability by a notch, which is still not enough to compete with most other classes, sadly.

They might not be as useful as a F/M/T, but they are AAAAWESOME! And in awesome-rating-table, they are at the top.
I really like Bards, they get too overpowered by SoA, and when they get HLAs there are like a F/M/T with the fastest XP progression table, plus they can sing, which I know that is bad (unless it's a Jester's song or you're doing that for RP reasons).
You might brand me a heretic for this, @booinyoureyes, but I prefer their songs from A Night at the Opera onward. I know they started as Speed Metal but I have yet to find a band that can awe me with their bombasticness when it comes to their current style. It's orgasmic.
Ride Into Obsession: Inspire Jarring (this song gives me a headache for some reason) Curse My Name: Curse Song (duh) Battlefield: Legionnaire's March Valkyries: Inspire Heroics Otherland: Fascinate
Their two best albums were Imaginations and Nightfall in Middle Earth. Before that the "epicness" of Blind Guardian was a bit understated, and only a few tracks from their earlier albums stand out. In fact, I prefer the live and remastered versions of those songs that came out later
The bombasticness really came with Imaginations and was perfected in Nightfall (which is also the nerdiest album ever that noone can ever find out that I listen to o.0)
I agree that Night at the Opera is criminally underrated though! Battlefield was my second choice for inspire courage. I think a lot of older, more severe metalheads hate their new stuff, but I love it!
Have you ever listened to Demons and Wizards? It is Hansi's other band with the founder of Iced Earth (great band)
We should probably continue discussing this in another thread, since this is more like a BG Appreciation thread now, as opposed to a Bard Defense thread. I hope we haven't scared off people that wanted to talk more about bards.
But do you have anything similar to "Wheel of Time" or "And Then There Was Silence"? Combining orchestration and metal together into a beautiful symphony makes me weep tears of happiness.
For the curious, the songs are long. Like really long.

I think each of those pretty well explain their music, too.
Lets break down pnp songs!
Valhalla: Inspire Courage
Imaginations from the Other Side: Fascinate
Don't Break the Circle: Inspire Competence (summoning spells)
Battalions of Fear: Countersong
And the Story Ends: Inspire Greatness

And my own eloquence seems to have gone askew.
:P
Rogue Rebalancing is definitely a lifesaver for Bard-addicts like myself.

By the way, if I want epic music, I listen to Virgin Steele. Blind Guardian is just too soft for my ears.
Much more Skaldish (barbaric and savage).

And something softer, by the hammer of Zeus!
