Game crashes after meeting Drizzt's party

It seems I encountered a potential game-stopper.
I just left the Underdark and entered chapter 6. All game controls work just fine in the first above-ground level (where you meet Ethan).
When I try to leave this map for any other destination (I tried several), I bump into Drizzt D'Urden and his party. From that moment on, pressing the inventory button or in fact any other menu item will crash the game. This happens on both the iPad and the Mac.
This means that my BG adventure has ended unless someone tells me how to circumvent this issue.
Any help would be appreciated (including my PM address, please).
