Time frame BG -BG2

I have just realised there is exactly one year between exiting Candlekeep and escaping Chez Irenicus. Assuming 2-3 months for BG1 and being tortured by maximum a month before starting BG2, that still leaves 8-9 months for the party to split up.

Plenty of time for Quayle to set up a circus, Edwin to work for the Shadow Thieves or Neera to create her Hidden Refuge. It also makes sense the party splits, as once Sarevok is dead, most people will just go their own way. They should remember Charname, though.

Also, no matter how long you stay in the dungeon, once you get out, it is day 1 at 7am. Can someone confirm?

i feel 1 year doesn't really fit with the introduction movie at the start of SOA : it seems more than a few weeks have passed, rather than a full year.

Also in a full year, your party (i hate that the game forces you to be with jaheira, minsc and imoen. I would not have been that hard to take 3 characters from your endgame save) does not get any xp...

I confirm the fact that no matter how long you stay in the dungeon, once you get out, it is day 1 at 7am.

It's quite silly : i often rush through that dungeon for RP purpose (why would you spend 1 full day in your torturer dungeon while you have a great distraction to escape...)

my opinon is a year maybe two due to the fact your party split up, your hailed as hero, friends with belt and get captured by a madman and a hidden secret that the nobles find out about your birth

@mumumomo 9 months without XP is fair. You just need to stop adventuring for that time and do something else. David (from my no reload run) probably opened a magic shop in Beregost (really needed in that town.)

Your companions go and do their own things or stay with you (the canon party). If they werent your party, the canon guys might have heard people asking for you and come to warn you (for gorion's sake in khalid-jaheira's case). And then they are trapped with you

After all, irenicus needs some time to hear about you and track you down.

EDIT: just saw the introduction and I agree. It seems as if they capture you very quick

Regarding the time spent in the dungeon, it is a bit silly, I agree

@MacHurto that is amazing, because opening a magic shop in Beregost is EXACTLY what I imagine my mage Charname doing in that time. Maybe brushing up on old texts and learning some new spells, but not really doing anything that would gain XP. Not to mention seeing what a life on her own terms would be like (a little dull maybe ;))

@jenzafar hehe, that town needs a magic shop! :-)

@mumumomo‌ has a point, though. From when they suspect you are a Bhaalspawn to capture it shouldnt be more than two weeks, judging by the video. I guess all it takes is 8 months of happy clientele in Beregost and after that time one angry customer casting some scrying spell on you for not bargaining prices :-P

Interesting. Hadn't thought of this. In BGT, Belt sends you on a mission to Amn right after defeating Sarevok. You get poisoned and kidnapped during that trip.

@Blackraven‌ Then in BGT you are captured by irenicus for one year! You really get to hate the guy, I guess :-D
