There's an indie RPG in development called Serpent in the Staglands. It has real-time with pause combat system; and lots of opportunities for role-playing / NPC interaction as you find in Baldur's Gate series and Planescape: Torment. Graphics are old school 2D / isometric perspective.

They've already surpassed their funding goal and are working towards stretch goals, which are mostly going to be expansions to the base game.
