Haer'Dalis came back. Bug?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
So I had a CHARNAME-Aerie-Haer'Dalis love triangle in my game that ended with Aerie choosing CHARNAME. Haer'Dalis left the party. This was in Trademeet. But now, when I return to Trademeet, Haer'Dalis does his dialogue from when you boot him from the group. Is this him legitimately coming back? Is this intended? Or am I getting a bug?

    Sounds like a bug, but...

    This post as well as the one about Rasaad has led me to believe that all kinds of unlikely reunions are possible in Trademeet. Maybe Gorion and Sarevok are reminiscing about the good old days over a tankard at the tavern too.
