Specialist Mages casting spells from their Opposition School via scrolls.

Even though some particular Specialist Mage cannot copy spells from his/her opposition school into spellbook and then memorize during rest periods, can he/she equip and make onetime use of scrolls that he/she could not learn.

For example, an Invoker who cannot learn spells from Enchantment/Charm school might still be able to single cast Friends, Sleep or Confusion by equipping such a scroll in an open quick-slot??

Nope. They're shaded red as unusable like swords and armor. You should however be able to use wands.

Well, based on the P&P version, a specialist mage shouldn't even be able to use magical items which duplicate spells from their opposition school. So an Invoker shouldn't be able to use a sleep wand.

I don't think this got implemented in BG however, just the ban on scrolls.

It's forbidden! Like pornographic literature, when you are a minor.
Now...have you tried to cast spells as a teenager? Most of us dabble into the "Forbidden Schools" of magic...

    Absolutely!

Play a Illusionist/Thief, get UAI, and this will work. You won't be able to learn from the scroll but you can cast it.

An invoker couldn't cast a charm spell however. Not unless they dual classed into a thief anyways.
