Welcome everyone, I'm back ! After dealing with Sarevok and his minions, Proesis, an elven Mage/Assassin Chaotic Neutral, has been captured by a powerful wizard you all know too well.
Those interested in my previous playthrough in the Sword Coast can check it out here.
Some time has past since I played Proesis for the last time, the reason being I didn't know BG2 well enough (and SCS2 even less) for playing it no-reload. But now that I have played a good part of SoA with my Blackguard, I think I can start my no-reload playthrough with her.
As always, I would like to apologize if my english isn't perfect
I hope you will enjoy !
Rules :
-Core difficulty
-Max HP on level up
-No XP cap
-SCS + Ascension
-Solo
Charname :
Short Sword *
Dagger *
Quatterstaff *
ShortBow *
The child of Bhaal has awoken ...
Proesis was dizzy when she opened her eyes, she heared a familiar voice telling her to wake up. It was Imoen, who apparently managed to escape their jailer. After a quick discussion, Proesis told her it would be better for them to split up, as she wanted to work alone. Imoen reluctantly accepted. After that, she came across Minsc and Jaheira, two persons she met a few months ago during her travels in the Sword Coast, both of them were caged.
Despite the fact she didn't know them much, she decided to help them to escape. She found the key to their cages in a room nearby and told them to flee, as she wanted to track the wizard who did all of this.
Using her famous poisoned Melf's Minute Meteors, she had little trouble dispatching the Duergars and the Mephits who habited the place. Even without her gear, she was still a very dangerous mage able to set and disarm traps (which are worth quite a lot of XP). She quickly eleminated every opponents and made her way through the first level of the dungeon.
In the second level, she destroyed some Mephit Portals, which apparently are vulnerable to poison
and defeated some sort of female elf clone with a Web and some poisoned arrows.
The clones looked a bit like Proesis, maybe the mage tried to clone her ? Or something far darker was going on here ...
After crossing the path of some thieves, Proesis finally escaped this place. She found Imoen and the wizard who trapped her, his name was Irenicus. Both were engaging in a magic duel Proesis wanted to join, when suddenly others mages teleported in. The mages, called the Cowled Wizards, were no match for Irenicus's power who destroyed them at supernatural speed. Proesis started to think she was not as powerful as she thought she was and reconsidered the fight.
In the end, Irenicus surrendered to the Cowled Wizards if they took Imoen aswell. He probably had planned everything. And they teleported away, Proesis was now alone, in a city she didn't know.
As she recollected her memories, she saw a circus near her. A guard told her it was a very dangerous place to go but she wasn't really listening and she entered this "other world". A Djinn greeted her and asked her a difficult riddle she solved. Then she encountered an Ogre, who wasn't really an Ogre. Her name was Aerie, and she told Proesis about this place. Everything was an illusion created by Kalah, a Gnome illusionist.
After freeing her, Proesis decided to fight this Kalah, as she was experiencing pleasure and adrenaline fighting others spellcasters. She progressed through the place invisible, and located the gnome who was disguised as an Ogre-Mage. She brought him down with a few poisoned MMM and the circus became normal again. After looting his body, she left the place with haste.

I'm excited to continue to play this character, playing her through BG:EE was one of my favorite run of all time and I really liked it. So far everything's fine and I finally learned Stoneskin ! (I previously failed to scribe the only scroll of BG:EE ...)
I'm going to follow the quest order of my Blackguard I think, except I'm not going to do the Unseeing Eye quest, infact, I think I will avoid every Beholder I'll came across as they are no doubt the most dangerous foes I have encountered so far because you need to rely on your luck versus them and that's never good in a no-reload challenge.
See you later !

Irenicus' Dungeon well taken care off. Looking forward to reading more...
Now, she had two goals, the first was to find the money for Gaelan while the second was to become more experimented to stand a chance against the powerful wizard. It seemed Athkatla was the place to go for both.
She started her journey by going to the Copper Coronet. As she was sneaking around, she met Hendak and his friends, who were slaves. She agreed to help them and found the beastmaster who had the keys and a Tuigan Bow. After freeing them, she helped Hendak to take over the place. He told her they were more children slaves to be saved but she wanted to deal with others tasks before. (Aka shopping and resting)
She returned to the Waukeen's Promenade, by night, where she saw a group of Shadow Thieves fighting against a woman, alone. But the woman, Hareishan, was in fact a vampire. She tried to kill her but it seemed she was regenerating too quickly. After the vampire fed on the thieves and a guard, she turned around and tried to kill Proesis who drank an Oil of Speed to outrun her.
After a while, the vampire was probably bored, because she said it wasn't the time for this, and that soon, her mistress would like to speak with Proesis, then she left.
Proesis was relieved, and decided to go to the Den of the Seven Vales to rest. There, she encountered a group of adventurers. They probably had a lot of magical items, so she decided to ambush them.
After that, she came back to the Slums where she was attacked by two warriors.
Finally, she entered the sewers by the entrance located in the Copper Coronet. There, she was greeted by a horde of Hobgoblins, an Otyugh and a Mustard Jelly. The jelly was really hard to kill, being immune to missile and magic, Proesis had to beat it with her quatterstaff which took a long time. She found a dead hand nearby.
A few moments later, she encountered a group of Myconids while invisible. Fearing their Confusions, she set up a few traps and lured them.
She also encountered a group of Kobolds she dispatched with a Skull Trap and disarmed the Flesh to Stone trap on the bridge. She met Quallo and his friend, the Carrion Crawler, a little further. She had to kill it to obtain his blood to solve the sword riddle. After obtaning Lilarcor, she was ready to enter the slaver's GQ.
After killing two Trolls and disarming the trap on the stairs, she freed the children. She also disarmed a Prismatic Ray trap and fought two Yuan-ti in the next room. Then she prepared herself for the last battle in this place.
Proesis thought it was enough and decided to leave, she informed Hendak about the situation who thanked her with some gold and the sword Kondar. (I now have 19 reputation)
She returned, invisible, to the Adventurer's Mart in Waukeen's Promenade but was ambushed by a group of slavers. Having the initiative, she had no trouble to eleminate them.
Back in the market, she used her Friend spell and bought two powerful items : The Robe of Vecna and the Rod of resurrection.
Character sheet.
----------------------------------------------------------
Mainly doing easy quests for the moment, now with Robe of Vecna in my possession, things are going to be easier. I want to reach 100 in Detect Illusion as soon as possible to fight the SCS liches, I gave every elligible spellcasters HLA with SCS so it's going to be tough.
@lunar You are absolutely right, but I was lazy to do so (I like having an item in every slots) :P
Proesis decided to solve the murderer's case in the Bridge District, she easely discovered the one who was responsible and tried to stop him. Of course, the tanner didn't think that way and escaped. Leaving behind him 2 Rune Assassins who could see through invisibility, were immune to poison and had 6 potions of invisibility + 1 oil of speed each and a Bone Golem.
The fight was very hard as nearly all of Proesis tools were useless against them, in the end they fell.
She went downstairs and fought the 2 Ghasts which weren't a threat and looted the place, the murderer did manage to flee.
Exhausted and out of spells, she came back to the Lieutenant Aegisfield but was ambush in the middle of the streets by some Muggers she killed with some poisoned acid arrows.
After talking to him and recieving her reward, she decided to rest at the nearest inn.
The day after, she travelled to the Windpsear Hills where she was attacked by a group of monsters convinced she was one too.
After killing them, they changed into knights and Garren Windspear appeared telling her that she was tricked but that the Radiant Heart would want her head now. Proesis wasn't really listening to his story and decided to continue to make her way in this region.
She met the local Dryads and gave them to acorns she had found in the Irenicus's dungeon and headed to the north.
She came accros some sort of a dungeon. In the first room, some Hobgoblins who were easely dispatched with a Skull Trap, then a few Kamikaze Kobolts who suicided on the Berserk Warrior Proesis summoned.
After that, she encountered a far more dangerous opponent. A powerful Rashasa who was immune to spells from level 1 to level 5
Once this fight was over, she opened the door and continued.
Many Orc Archers were here, and were piercing through Proesis's Stoneskin pretty fast but she had a lot them ready and some Mirror Images. They weren't very resilient and fell pretty fast.
After the next door, she fought some Golems and more Orcs.
After dealing with them, Proesis kept advancing forward and opened another door. In the room, a group of human looking enemies. An easy victory she thought while she started to throw some Webs and Skull Traps spells at them. But the humans were resisting easely to her spells, regenerating fast and running at supernatural speed.
Proesis finally understood she was facing Vampires once again, and the last time, even one was too much. She tried to escape but it was too late, they all used their Confusion spells on her.
Luckily, (Thank to Spirit Armor and Blur my saves vs spells is at -1) she made all her saves and managed to cast a Shadow Door before fleeing the place ...
Proesis understood she nearly died here and she decided to come back later, when she will be more experienced.
It cannot be dispell, and Remove Curse or Greater Restoration don't do anything. Any thoughts ?
You could make a test save, equip a cursed item and then go to a priest. Maybe the priest will dispel both curses at the same time?
According to this link you might need a level 16+ priest. Not sure though.
Edit: you could consider making a separate thread abou this issue. More people are likely to read and (hopefully) answer your qestion.
Proesis accepted the quest given by Renal Bloodscalp to spy on Maevar, this last one told her to steal the amulett of the high priestess of Talos in the Temple District, a really big, epic fight occured and she killed many opponents but in the end, a Talos Knight casted a Domination spell, ending the run.
RP wise I don't think a Maze spell or a Charm Person spell should end a solo run (if someone try to hurt you while you are charmed the spell automatically end) but with Domination it is definitely fatal as they can slit your throat with ease or order you to do so. Even my Contingency helpless Improved Invisibility couldn't help I think because they all had many Detect Invisibility and True Sight spells available.
Time to roll another character !
I agree with your point that neither Maze or Charm should equal death. But most no-reloaders follow the game, so I normally do the same. With Domination it's a bit different as you say.
The only nice thing is: rolling a new Charname
Congrats either way on a very good first no-reload effort!
Now concerning my new Charname for no-reload, I don't really know, maybe a Dragon Disciple or a Shadowdancer, but one thing is sure, I'm going to continue to play no-reload it was so fun
