Kensai Solo..gear question

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Hey I am currently doing a solo Kensai run , but am finding I am taking a hell of a lot of dmg due to poor AC.

What equip do you think would be the best gear to optimise durability?

    Amulet of Shield is a must have

    As Gotural said, Amulet of shielding is your best (and only) bet to get a decent ac.

    You can find it in the nashkel carnival. It comes with 10 charges and is very cheap (like 600-800gp).

    Another possibility to avoid damage is to do melee-kiting. By using a fast long range weapon (like staff) you. An hit the ennemy and then retreat before he has had the chance to hit back.
    Or you could use normal kiting with throwing axes.

    An Elven kensai with 18/xx and 19 DEX gets, ++ in Axes, gets 14 THAC0 in them for (I am not sure and may change according to STR bonus) 7-14 damage each hit at 3/2 APR, AT LEVEL ONE!
    For BG1 solo go for Throwing Axes, for BG2, just dual to Mage or Thief after maxing TWS at two or three proficiency points. Edit: you can't dual with Elves, but you can make a human with the same build for 15 THAC0 which isn't SOOO bad at all.
