I still enjoy the heck out of classic Fallout games, regardless of how they aged. I wish the Fallout 4 could introduced a classic gameplay, but that's not even naive hope. It's stupidity.
I have no idea who thought the Temple of Trials was a good idea in Fallout 2. If you're a non-combat character, you're utterly boned in there. Even IF you are a combat character but didn't take unarmed or melee skills (in a sci-fi game with laser rifles and miniguns), those ants and scorpions would mess you up good. Meanwhile, Fallout 1 had you with a gun and some harmless rats to teach you how combat works. Which worked a lot better.
I can't blame anyone for cheating and/or exploiting their way through the first part of the game (let's say, the Den).
Fallout 1&2 were the best games back in their day next to the BG games. I just have a hard time playing them now because their graphics are so dated and bleh.
