    Click on Recent Discussions on the left hand navigation panel. It's sorted by most recent post per page.

    Not that I've been able to ever find.

    There's no way to opt-out of seeing a Category, which would be very helpful along side of Recent Discussions, to filter out those categories one isn't interested in.
