Many Crashes, Only in Multiplayer

I have been trying to play the game with my brother, and the host game works fine, but the second player's (me) game crashes almost constantly, usually when picking up items after walking around for a bit. I have no such issues in singleplayer. I did import a player over from bg:ee for this game, by transferring over a save game. I am running on an ASUS Q500A, on windows 8.1. Any suggestions? Thanks!
