Savegames teasing me

Hello everybody,
I just started playing BG2:EE Shadows of Amn. As a hardcore D&D3.5/Pathfinder player it looks like i've found gamers heaven, except for the following problem.
The game does save, and the game does verify in the bar that it saves during gameplay. If I load it immediately, there is no problem. However, sometimes they simply dissappear. So the game saves "random saves" for long terms. Neither are the lost saves to be found in the specified save games folder for BG2.
Apologies for my non-perfect English. Help would be very much appreciated, the game looks awesome!
But starting over in old/working saves everytime is killing me!
*Game is not installed in the C:\programfiles folder, as recommended.
