Rogue rebalance mod

Is this mod legit? Is this how it is in PnP? Im hesitant about installing the dual wield improvement for rogues let alone a mod. I will consider it though if the feedback is good.

Yes and yes. It's a very good mod and completely bug free.
I don't install the Thief kit/HLAs revision components since I like the vanilla thieves, but I should give it a try one day, other than that, I install pretty much everything.

I've had a read-through of it, but never played it (I'm on Mac, so mods are trickier to come by).
It seems to me to give Bards a bit too much... Automatic access to level 8 spells seems way too strong... Especially as even the "combat Bards" like Blades & Skalds get it (ok so Skalds take a hit to casting speed).

I'd have preferred it if level 7 spells had become accessible as a HLA... Maybe you get a choice to make between Level 7 spells & weapon specialisation?
(In the same way as NWN rangers choose between fighting styles.)

Level 8 spells lines up with what they should've gotten in the first place, as that's exactly what they can achieve in PnP. I won't argue that it makes them a good deal more powerful.

But in versions where they get access to higher level spells, don't they also get a restricted list of castable spells?
(More focussed on buff/debuff and party support, rather than the out & out damage dealers they can be in BG.)

Hm, I confess I don't know. As a rule, I don't cast direct damage spells other than maybe Magic Missile with Bards, but lean toward debuff and support spells. It does make more sense to me.

Played that way, I've no problem... But it relies on trusting the player not to abuse the fact that a Bard will out-level a Mage.

Only difference with playing on Mac is that you can't patch the .exe, then it's all the same. RR works great on the EE and on Mac. Here you can find a great guide to install mods with Mac-compatible WeiDU (unless you got in the Yosemite beta :P) with Terminal.

Sorry @CrevsDaak‌, I know you mean well.. But I haven't got the slightest idea what you just said!

@abacus‌ some mods patch the baldur.exe (or BGmain.exe in BG2) to 'unhardcode' (that means to remove options from the baldur.exe and make it read a table with the same information instead, and the table can be edited without needing to patch the baldur.exe file) or to remove effects from it. The Mac version has no baldur.exe file, the data from the baldur.exe is written in the .app itself instead, so you can't modify it.
Other than those mods that patch the baldur.exe file, most are completely compatible with the Mac version of BG:EE and BG2:EE. As RR does not need to patch the baldur.exe file, it can install and work properly over Mac OS X.

Yes. Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes. I cannot speak the praise of this mod highly enough. It's on my must have list along with only two others. Oddly enough the same two as @jackjack‌.
It's close to PnP and amazingly well made. :) What rogues and bards should have been but weren't!
*cough* Sorry. Had to get my 2 cents in. I'll show myself out. ;)

    This. :)

I only use RR for the Bard tweaks!

Thanks @CrevsDaak‌, that's worth knowing. Whatever reservations expressed above, I have been looking at this mod with longing for a while now!

Even with the mod, Thieves and Bards are still really awful compared to anything Mage related.

Getting level 8 spells at level 29 doesn't help much. And most of the spells scale up to level 20, sometime even less, so Bards leveling faster than Mages isn't a big deal.

RR is a really well made mod, one of the best in this regard. Personally however, I didn't enjoy most of the tweaks / components.

Great mod. Chosen of Cyric encounter is pure cheese. Watching your party get chunked even on Core really makes you reevaluate your strategies. Bards become finaly become a useful class.

I wish there was more mods introducing smart encounters with parties of 6.
