Easy Multiplayer they said. . .

It'll work they said.

Unfortunately, it does not. While I enjoyed it when I played the game at a younger age, I was hoping this would be a good game for myself and other friends to play. Doesn't work. Is Hamachi really the only way to go? If so, then there's some serious issues that Beamdog needs to fix for advertising. Multiplayer is NOT easy, and barely works if at all.

Are you talking about 1 or 2?
I've been able to join most BG 2 EE games, but I haven't tried hosting since for some reason I can't host any game.

I haven't tried BG EE yet, mostly because direct connect only multiplayer games never work for me.

Well, both. We just tried BG 2 EE tonight to no avail. I wouldn't have bought it (again) if I knew multiplayer didn't work as easy as claimed.

Well Bg2 EE is just click and play for the multy... what's the problem with it? If we are talking about Bg I EE i'm quite angry too about that, i had to download a cracked version in order to play with a friend coz at the time beamdog version and steam version coulden't work online toght... Not a smart move to make a player choose to download a cracked version of your game isn't it?! Btw, bg ee I/II are worth all the money they cost

That's unusual. The fiancee and I had no troubles connecting a little earlier.

We started, went into multiplayer, protocols, set it to Beamdog, went back to the main menu, then back into multiplayer and it should load the Beamdog lobby, up the top is create game, one makes a game, then it should appear in the list...

Are you both on the PC? It's meant to be cross platform but I'm not sure how well that works.

Our multiplayer group has been using Tunngle to connect.
So far it's been easy and without trouble.
    I recommend it.

    I can't understand why it won't work...

There was four of us last night, couldn't get Beamdog to work. I started off as host, one player got in before it crashed and wouldn't let me join/host another. One of the others in the group made the game, and the other two could connect, and while they were getting characters set, it kicked them.

I'll echo what Marik said, we played the other night using Tunngle. Still not sure exactly how it works but in less than 15 minutes we managed to get all 6 of us into the same game. Only thing I didn't like is that the tunngle website is filled with pop-ups and redirects; but once the client was downloaded and working it seemed to be pretty stable. We had some crashes, I would save five or six, but we also played for close to four hours.

All legit copies, bought on the Steam sale. We never tried Tunngle or Hamachi, that's why I was asking if there was another way to do so.

If you haven't already, try this:

Make sure that no one creates or selects their character until everyone has joined. Once everyone has joined, turn off "Listen to Join Requests" in the Permissions screen to make sure that no one else disrupts your game.

If that still doesn't work, let us know.
