Thoughts on resting

Simple question, alot to discuss. What is your position on resting?? Is it ever not a legitimate technique, do you feel that too much makes the game too easy?? Or is the possibility of getting waylaid while in camp a big enough risk to make it perfectly acceptable in any situation??

I try to limit my restings when I have lots of my resources still available.
If everyone is damaged and I am out of spells, I am going to rest, anywhere. It becomes a need, then.

But I am not the type that rests after taking 1 point of damage and casting one spell.

I think if you're resting in an area of traffic in enemy territory (either mines?!), seems really wonky. Admittedly, you do get woken up, but still seems weird.

In Quest for Glory: So You Want To Be A Hero there was very high risk to sleeping in dangerous areas; you die. BG should let you sleep in either mine, not sure if anywhere else in BG1 would be offlimits logically.

I rest... A lot. Some would call it cheesed, some wouldn't. I try to keep it reasonable, bit I definitely double rest for sequencers and contingencies in ToB. I don't think that a big deal though, cause I do to think of it as strictly sleeping. When I test in a dangerous area, I imagine most of the party are not asleep. They just sat down to take a breath, some of the lower con and previously-hashed characters are sleeping maybe, but everyone else in snacking and making small talk. Same thing with resting like 5 time in a row at an in, which I sometimes do in bg1(limited healing spells). There not sleeping for 40 hours straight. They just rented a hotel room for 2 days like a normal person. Kaigan sat the bar, imoen and going shop(lift)ing, Coran and Safana are, *ahem* hanging out upstairs, and Minsc is teaching the children of the village how to wield a sword, and going on "quests" helping them do their chores, CHARNAME and xan are experimenting with new spells and cantrips a the Nearby field, and occasionally ask local mages for advice. And that party has seven people. Whatever.

I've rested so much on my first time through, probably wouldn't have got as far as I am now without it lol.
