Party Suggestions.

My character is a Cavalier.
My current party is Anomen, Jaheira, Minsc, Keldorn, Nalia.
I was wondering if I should keep my party as it is or replace someone with Mazzy.

Any suggestions ?

    Ditch Minsc.

Your party is fine as is. Its warrior heavy but there isn't anything wrong with that. Especially considering you are covering druid/cleric/mage spellcasting.

    *hardly an experienced opinion*

Personally I'd ditch Nalia. From what people say, Imoen is a better spellcaster. You could also ditch Minsc in favour of Mazzy - she is an awesome archer. Or you could ditch Keldorn in favou of Mazzy, since your main is a pally and can wield Carsomyr (Keldorn is cool, though, so I understand if you want to keep him :D).

Nalia is a better spellcaster namely because you can pick her up earlier and so its possible for her to be a much higher level by the time you'd get Imoen. Imoen is a better thief but there are so many potions of mind focusing (especially found in temples), potions of master thievery, and potions of perception that you should be able to get around it. Plus there is a ring of open locks that you can find in chapter 3 that helps her a lot with this. Anyways if you have Nalia in your group I'd stick with her. But for story reasons switching to Imoen certainly makes sense.

Good point about Nalia. Still, you'll level fast when you reach ToB, and having to use potions every time you need a silly trap or chest opened would be, at least to me, a nuisance.

Well like I said once you have that ring I've not found it to be that big of an issue (at that point it shouldn't be for every trap or chest). The bigger issue would probably be trap detection, but honestly in this case Jaheira really doesn't have that much to pick for level 2 spells so you can get around it. You can still get access to something like Time Stop with Nalia potentially way sooner than you can with Imoen (before even ToB) and personally I think its worth keeping Nalia. It will make some of the more difficult fights a lot easier.

I in fact intend to replace Nalia with Imoen. What weapon style I should use for Minsc, I am still uncertain.

Shouldn't matter. There are powerful maces in the game which you can dual-wield, and two handed swords are, arguably, -the- most powerful weapons in BG2. Still, I suggest you take Mazzy instead. Archer s come in handy, and shortbows are (again, arguably) the most powerful bows in BG2, and Mazzy's got 5 proficiency points with them. Plus, she's lawful good and really paladin-like, which would suit your party.

Easiest way to play Minsc is probably to give him a good two-handed sword and let him wack things. He also starts out with specialisation in maces so that is an option as well (if you want him wielding two weapons or even just as a secondary blunt weapon). The Mace of Disruption (improved) or Storm Star +3/+5 are probably going to be your two best choices when it comes to a mace for him.

If dual wielding him, you could also slowly train him in axes. Axe of Disrupting, a mid-ToB weapon, seems to be a good choice for him (thing gives +1 AC, and Minsc could use that).

I'll be a bore, though, and repeat myself by saying that Mazzy would probably serve you better. Four melee characters seems to be one too many, as they often get in each other's way in combat.

I was maybe thinking of replacing Anomen with Mazzy....

Wish I had more party members...

That's part of the fun. After 15 years there are still party combinations I haven't tried out. :D

Replace Keldorn for mazzy, no need for 2 paladins :P
but as elminster said, your party is fighter heavy. Actually, it is kinda fighter morbidly obese! getting a mage instead of keldorn might be good. you wouldn't have to depend on 1 mage.

your team is similar to mine currently, Im running:

pc- undead hunter, keldorn, anomen, mazzy, imoen and neera

in hind sight I should have had aerie over neera for maximum holiness, but I didn't think of it until too late

you could easily switch mazzy for anyone in your line up besides nalia tbh, personaly though id take her over minsc.

I do find Mazzy a lot of fun. I sometimes have a hard time changing my core party, which includes Minsc and Jaheria and myself. . . But I'm determined to change this time around and use some different ones.

Mazzy is a personal fav and I'd drop someone to get her if I was you! :D:D

By all means, she's a monster with a bow. She's always a must have for my party. There's a Short Bow you get early in the game that gives an extra attack per round, she's absolutely deadly when using it. Be prepared to stock up on lots of arrows though, she'll burn through them in no time.

I agree. It doesn't really make sense to have another Paladin if you're already playing one.

He already has a proficiency with two-handed swords and there are some good ones in the game. I personally get a kick out of the sentient one, though there are better ones to be had.

No matter what my concept is, I cannot leave Mazzy behind. She is so great. Have her take the Tuigan Bow and give her Mask and Kundane for melee.

I agree that Keldorn would be the one to switch out for Mazzy. Let the man have his family and pat yourself on the back ;)

I have gained a lot of respect for Nalia. I never really used her much before, but she is a much better character than I realized.

The problem with Nalia is that she's just too similar to Imoen, so she's gone by the time I get to Spellhold. Otherwise she's a good character.
