Shapeshifter/Fighter dual-class?

I've been toying around this certain character in my head, a character that bitten and infected against his will (and one who would have become a more combat-oriented character, but in order to keep his affliction under control is forced down a druid's path--at least for a time).

One, how feasible is this idea? I'm not too certain exactly how dual-classes work.

Two, I would really like to change right after I get the ability to shift into a Greater Werewolf, which would be at level 13 (around 750,000 experience, I think). This would obviously be in BG2:EE. How far into BG2 would I be able to regain the ability to shift into a werewolf after leveling up to a level 14 Fighter (around 1,250,000 experience, I think)? If I'm basically spending the entirety of the second game as a not-too-great Fighter, I might have to rethink my options...

As I'm not at all an expert on this by any stretch of the imagination, any help anyone could give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The biggest problem any dual class with fighter or druid is not the odd progression, but the demanding stat requirements: 15 Str, 17 wis and 17 Chr or 17 str, and 15 Chr/Wis if dualing from. You WILL be a Mindflayer Snack if you want optimal stats.

That said dualing into fighter has a lot of downsides. Con bonuses beyond 16 are lost forever, as is the base 1d10 roll. Dualing at 13 is also just shy of the Lvl 7 Priest spells, which are fun in their own way.

So, if I wanted to go from a Druid to a Fighter, how much Strength, Wisdom, and Charisma would I need? (Sorry, I can't seem to wrap my head around your post).

    17 strength, 15 Charisma, 15 wisdom.

Ah, I see, thanks. That doesn't sound too terrible, especially because of those handy stat-raising tomes.

I'd still like to know how long it takes for someone to accrue 2,000,000 experience, but I suppose that would be hard to pin down.

If you are comfortable with a small party (only 2 or 3 npcs), it'll be much quicker to regain. Overall, you'd be a better byfar offensive version of the gww, but I expect lots of resting as thats once per day. Pretty sure single weapon style stacks for your shifted form, which is a nice boost. Gww + gww would be funny. ;)

Are you comfy with editors? Shapeshifter Kensai would be worlds better I suspect. Can you wear armour as a shifter to fighter? If not, kensai fits better too. You might not be allowed armour even without your druid being reactivsted, but I'm not certain. Druid multis are unrestricted though. This would probably be EEKeeper doable, and you might find it more fun.

Thanks for your advice on the small party (and single-weapon style), that really helps. I really do not know my way around editors at all (and I play on a Mac if that explains anything at all), so I'll be stuck with Shapeshifter/Fighter as far as I can tell.

The Cleric/Druid -> x dual classes are currently a bit wonky. Especially around what weapons you can use before your 2nd class surpasses your original class.

Needless to say I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't allowed to wear armor during the transition period. You certainly will be restricted to using druid weapons (you can put proficiency points in others but you won't be able to use them) even before you get your druid levels back.

I see...I didn't think I would be able to use armor (and it would be very strange, I think, from a role-playing point of view to suddenly be able to wear armor out of the blue). So, basically stick to spears, clubs, or staves, even though a Fighter can wield anything? Thanks!

Dont forget Scimitars and Daggers! Slings might be handy too.

You should be using the Shapeshifter Rebalancing component of BG2Tweaks so the werewolf forms give their proper bonuses. Greater Werewolf is OP in my opinion, but its what you're supposed to get rather than the underwhelming "bonuses" you get normally.

Whether or not they have what was intended is entirely subjective.
